What is Arimidex?Arimidex is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that is used in the treatment of estrogen-related conditions such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and endometrial cancer. This medication is primarily used to treat breast cancer and is also used to prevent osteoporosis, but is also used as part of hormone replacement therapy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the pharmacokinetic of anastrozole administered in combination with tamoxifen (Nolvadex) in healthy male volunteers.
We conducted a single-center, double-blind, randomised study with male volunteers with breast cancer. Participants were randomised to receive anastrozole 10 mg/day with tamoxifen 10 mg daily or placebo for two weeks. A total of 12 healthy volunteers participated in the study. All participants received either one daily dose of anastrozole or placebo. Anastrozole (Arimidex) and tamoxifen (Nolvadex) were administered orally once daily, while Nolvadex (Nolvadex) was administered by subcutaneous injection. The subjects were asked to take one dose of anastrozole orally one day prior to the scheduled planned examination.
